Unburden helps you record what you own, its stories, and where it should go. This page explains what we keep and who sees it.
What we keep
- Your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google, and nothing else from your Google account.
- The photos, voice recordings and notes you add about your things.
Who sees it
Your things are private to your account. Only people you choose to share with can see them, and photos you mark as hidden stay hidden from them.
To write descriptions for you, your photos are sent to Anthropic's Claude. To turn your voice recordings into text, they are sent to OpenAI. Neither may use them to train their models. To find things online that look like yours, a photo of each item is also sent to Google Lens, through a service called SerpApi; photos of paperwork and photos you mark as hidden are never sent. We keep a copy of what the AI writes about your things, and we may review it to make the AI better. We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.
To make Unburden easier to use, we record how it's used while you're signed in: which screens you open, where you tap, and screen recordings of how you move through the app. Everything you write and every photo is hidden in those recordings, so we see where you tapped, never what your things are, their stories, photos or recordings, or your name or email. We use PostHog for this, which keeps an id in your browser to connect your visits.
Where it's stored
Everything is stored with our hosting provider, Render, in the United States.
Deleting your things
You can delete any item and its photos at any time. To close your account and delete everything in it, ask us and we'll do it.
